Day 01 : Departing from Quito
We begin the day with a private departure from Quito, traveling north through the picturesque Andean highlands toward the province of Imbabura, known as the “Province of Lakes.” Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of rolling valleys and towering volcanoes.
Our first stop is at San Pablo Lake, nestled at the foot of Imbabura Volcano. This tranquil setting offers spectacular panoramic views and a perfect photo opportunity to capture the essence of the Ecuadorian highlands.
We then continue to Otavalo, home to one of Latin America’s most vibrant and traditional indigenous markets. Stroll through colorful stalls filled with handwoven textiles, ponchos, hats, jewelry, and unique works of art crafted by local Kichwa artisans. It’s the perfect place to experience authentic culture and find beautiful souvenirs.
Our journey continues to the Sacred Peguche Waterfall, a site of cultural and spiritual significance for the local community. Surrounded by lush vegetation, this peaceful waterfall is not only a natural wonder but also a place of ritual purification during ancestral festivities.
Next, we visit the Cuicocha Lagoon, a volcanic crater lake renowned for its emerald-green waters and twin islands formed by volcanic activity. From its scenic viewpoints, you can admire sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and paramo landscapes.
Before returning to Quito, we make a stop in the charming town of Cotacachi, famous for its high-quality leather goods and colonial-style streets lined with artisan shops and cafés.
